Narrative
From Barry Graham on www.genesreunited.co.uk (http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/tree.asp?wci=tree&member_key=2572882):
Hi Sean,
Sorry about the delay - we've been in Central Australia for the last few weeks.
We have a connection there.
Clara was born Jun 1883 at Rainham, Kent. She married Alfred Henry (Joseph) Needle about 1910.
She left her husband and migrated about 1914 to Melbourne, Victoria after husband Alfred Needle contracted syphillis.
She lived with her brother's family.
Maurice William KITNEY (b.1877) - (my grandfather)in Richmond and Mentone, Vic. until she moved to Yallourn.
She and Michael (Mick) James Hehir were in a defacto relationship so there would be no marriage record. She died 1947 at Melbourne, Vic. Having dropped dead on Flinders St Station aged 65. Reg. No. 5822 in the Vic. BDM death index.
Her death is registered as Clara NEEDLE.
Curiously there is another death sharing the same registration number (5822) in 1947.
That death is registered as Florence Ellen HEHIR aged 64. I wonder if she used a nom-de-plume?
I have vague memories of Clara as I spent a lot of time with my grandparents when I was quite young near the end of WW2 when my father was in the army and my mother was working.
If you send me your Email address I can send a photograph of Clara taken at a family wedding in 1904 and another with Maurice's family taken in 1917 soon after she arrived in Victoria.
I can also send details of Clara's ancestry if this is of interest.
I see in your tree that you have some details of Clara's family taken from my first cousin Graeme Kitney's web site.
