The 1851 census report for Sculthorpe shows that Ransome and Martha had six children at the time of the report, from Hannah 11 to Ransome 2.
By 1861 the family had increased to include Martha, Susanna and Samuel, but Hannah and George were not living at home with their parents. Their last child Jemima arrived about 1863, from the 1871 report for Sculthorpe.
At the time of the 1881 census, the elderly couple were being visited by their married daughter Susanna Harker, and her son Alfred William.
